Great Yarmouth police recently detonated a World War II-era bomb near River Yare A 250 kg World War II bomb exploded near Great Yarmouth in England recently. A bomb was being defused by the local police, but it unexpectedly triggered and detonated. On 7 February 2023, the bomb was discovered, and officials began work to diffuse it.

England, a WWII bomb weighing 250 kilograms has been found and defused. During defusing, the bomb exploded unexpectedly. As a result of the incident, Norfolk Police reported no injuries. A contract worker found the bomb near River Yare and notified the police, according to the Norfolk Constabulary press release.

In addition to defusing the bomb, a protective sandbox was placed around the area to avoid any unexpected explosions. Later Friday evening, cordons were lifted. While trying to defuse the bomb, it exploded midway. Sheila Oxtoby, the Council Chief Executive, commented on the same, adding, "This has been an unsettling time for many people, especially those who were evacuated.".

In these types of incidents, we often see local communities pulling together to help one another, following emergency services' advice, and keeping everyone safe. Locals reported hearing a loud bang and feeling buildings shake at least 24 kilometers away from the explosion. There were no injuries, thankfully.
