It was announced Thursday that the University of Michigan has fired co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss, who is under investigation for computer access crimes. It comes after a review of University policies, according to Warde Manuel, athletic director.

During his time at Michigan, he's been the co-coordinator for one season and the school's overall coach for two. On offense, he called plays. It is expected that Weiss will be fired "for cause," and there is a clause in his agreement that includes both felony convictions and morality clauses.

A new coach will be needed at one of Michigan's most crucial positions following Weiss' firing. It was under Weiss' tutelage that quarterback J.J. was able to emerge as one of the country's top quarterbacks.

It is estimated that Weiss will earn $400,000 in bonuses on top of $850,000 in base salary.
