Listeria contamination has led to recalls of more than 400 products

The US Food and Drug Administration recalled over 400 food products due to possible Listeria contamination. Between January 24 and January 30, Fresh Ideation Food Group LLC recalled sandwiches, salads, yogurts, wraps, and other products.

Until Friday, no illnesses had been reported by the Baltimore company. Fresh Ideation Food Group announced the recall after environmental samples tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.

As reported by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, eating food contaminated with Listeria can lead to serious infections, including fever, headaches, diarrhea, and vomiting.

Pregnant women and their newborns, seniors 65 and older, and people with weakened immune systems are most likely to get sick from it, according to the CDC. About 260 people die from listeriosis each year, according to the agency.

There are 7 states and the District of Columbia in which recalled foods were distributed, according to the FDA.

According to the company, the products were sold in stores, vending machines, and by transportation providers, such as bacon, egg, and cheddar muffins and croissants.
