A century after being written, a letter has finally reached its destination. The correspondence was sent in February 1916 and arrived at its intended address in Hamlet Road, south London, much to the bewilderment of the current occupants.

The year on the card was 2016. Finlay Glen told CNN Thursday that he thought it was 2016.

In an interview with CNN, Glen revealed that the letter arrived at the property a few years ago, but he has just brought it to the local historical society for further investigation.

King George V's head is stamped on the envelope. The letter was written more than a decade before Queen Elizabeth II was born.

“Once we realized it was very old, we felt that it was okay to open up the letter,” said Glen, 27.

Postal Services Act 2000 makes opening mail not addressed to you a crime. Then Glen said he can "only apologize" for crimes.
